The 100 most influential Black personalities in the Lusophone world in 2024

KEF Portugal supports the fourth edition of the initiative

29 Nov - 03 Dec 2024

In support of the Bantumen platform, KEF Portugal is hosting Roger Cipó, a Brazilian photographer, communicator and entrepreneur, at Casa Mísia. Cipó will be in Lisbon from 29 November to 3 December for the fourth edition of the Power List BANTUMEN 100, an initiative that recognises and celebrates the achievements in various fields of 100 Afro-descendant personalities from Portuguese-speaking countries. The Gala presentation of the list will take place on 30 November at Pátio Galé, in the Portuguese capital, and will be broadcast by RTP.

Beyond individual recognition, Bantumen highlights another objective of the initiative: to promote sharing and reflection on cultural diversity within the context of the final year of the International Decade for People of African Descent, established by the UN.

Raised in the Eldorado neighbourhood, on the outskirts of Diadema, São Paulo, Cipó began working as a photographer in 2010. With the photographic project Olhar de um Cipó, which portrays Ketu Candomblé and the Egungun worship of ancestry, among other African-based religions, he was recognised with the Almerinda Farias Gama Award for Black communicators. His photographic exhibition AFETO was featured at the Rio de Janeiro International Photography Festival in 2018. Due to his work not only as a photographer but also as a presenter and creator of series on Black identity and culture, he was named by Wired Magazine in 2020 as one of the 50 people who transformed creativity in Brazil.
